Develarán busto a la mártir Micaela Bastidas y habrá reconocimiento a peruanos sobresalientes en Estados Unidos

PATERSON, JUN 19 – Las históricas Cataratas en Paterson, la ciudad más peruana de los Estados Unidos, servirán como escenario a las celebraciones por el Bicentenario de la Independencia del Perú, el jueves 24 de Junio 2021, a partir de las 11am, según lo dio a conocer Peru to the World Expo (PTWE), institución encargada de organizar la actividad.

La conmemoración tendrá como invitados de honor al Gobernador de New Jersey, Phill Murphy, al Cónsul General del Perú en Paterson, Yván Solari Calvo, y al Director de la Oficina Comercial del Perú en Nueva York, Bernardo Muñoz, teniendo como anfitrión al Alcalde de la ciudad, Andre Sayegh. Como punto central de la actividad se realizará la develación de un busto a la mártir de la independencia peruana, Micaela Bastidas.

Al celebrar su décimo aniversario, PTWE presentará un programa especial que incluye el reconocimiento a peruanos y peruanas que han sobresalido en los Estados Unidos, a través de los años en diferentes áreas, como Gaby Berrospi, fundadora de Latino Wall Street; Marcela Carlín, ejecutiva de Goya Foods; Flor de María Rivera, famosa diseñadora, así como el actor peruano revelación Miguel Angel García (Moco), de la película de Netflix «Blue Miracle».

También habrá la degustación de la mundialmente famosa “Causa Peruana”, el plato tradicional criollo ligado a la historia de patriotismo de los peruanos. Todo esto, acompañado de una exhibición de artistas peruanas, que incluye la presentación teatral de Rosa Bustamante, “Micaela”, así como el baile llamado «Awka Warmi» Remembranza a Micaela Bastidas, puesto en escena por la afamada directora coreógrafa, Cynthia Paniagua, que actúa en la exitosa película “In The Heights”, que se encuentra actualmente en la cima de la popularidad. 

“Contaremos con la participación de la Asociación de Chefs Peruanos como tributo a Micaela Bastidas, importante gestora de nuestra independencia, que entregó la vida por ella”, indicó Melvi Dávila, presidenta de PTWE que, cada año desde el 2012, lleva a cabo la principal actividad gastronómica peruana en la ciudad de Nueva York, con la difusión de la cultura del Perú y su magistral cocina andina y criolla, reconocida a nivel internacional. En esta importante demostración se suma el connotado Chef Flavio Solorzano, Embajador de Marca Perú, que cada año lidera las actividades culinarias de PTWE en Estados Unidos.

“Durante esta década, hemos contado con el importante respaldo de Mincetur, Promperú, Sierra Exportadora, así como el respaldo institucional del Alcalde de la ciudad de Nueva York, Bill De Blasio”, remarcó Dávila. “Asimismo, recibimos el apoyo del Consulado General del Perú en Nueva Jersey y Nueva York, en alianza con diferentes entidades, como Goya Foods, Peruvian Import, Ameridream Home Loans, la Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) y en esta ocasión se suma Latino Wall Street”.

Micaela Bastidas Puyucahua, esposa de Túpac Amaru, simboliza el alma de la revolución de 1780 y, en grado superlativo, la participación de la mujer en la gesta libertadora de América. Murió torturada, junto a su marido, por negarse a revelar información sobre el ejército rebelde.

“Consideramos que nuestra comunidad se unirá a este reconocimiento a una mujer que contribuyó a forjar la independencia de nuestro querido Perú”, señaló finalmente Dávila.

Las Cataratas de Paterson (Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park) constituyen unas prominentes caídas de agua de 77 pies de altura (23 metros) que han ofrecido la energía necesaria para el desarrollo industrial de esta ciudad de Nueva Jersey que alberga a una nutrida comunidad peruana.

► TRIBUTE TO THE BICENTENNIAL OF PERU’S INDEPENDENCE AT HISTORIC PATERSON GREAT FALLS

• A Bust of Peruvian martyr Micaela Bastidas will be unveiled and there will be recognition of outstanding Peruvians in the United States

PATERSON, JUN 19 – The historic Great Falls in Paterson, New Jersey, the most Peruvian city in the United States, will serve as the backdrop to celebrate the Bicentennial of the Independence of Perú, on Thursday, June 24, 2021, starting at 11am, according to Peru to the World Expo (PTWE), the organizers of the event.

The celebration will have as guests of honor the Governor of New Jersey, Phill Murphy, the General Consul of Peru in Paterson, Yván Solari Calvo, and the Director of the Commercial Office of Peru in New York, Bernardo Muñoz, and will be hosted by the Mayor of the city, Andre Sayegh.

The central point of the activity will be the unveiling of a bust of the martyr of Peruvian independence, Micaela Bastidas.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, PTWE will present a special program that includes the recognition of Peruvians who have excelled in the United States, through the years in different areas, such as Gaby Berrospi, founder of Latino Wall Street; Marcela Carlín, executive of Goya Foods; Flor de María Rivera, famous designer, as well as the Peruvian actor Miguel Angel García (Moco), from the Netflix movie «Blue Miracle».

There will also be a tasting of the world famous «Causa Peruana», the traditional Creole dish linked to the history of patriotism of Peruvians. All this, accompanied by an exhibition of Peruvian artists, which includes the theatrical presentation of Rosa Bustamante, «Micaela», as well as the dance called «Awka Warmi» Remembrance of Micaela Bastidas, staged by the famous choreographer director, Cynthia Paniagua, acting in the hit movie «In The Heights» which is currently at the peak of popularity.

«As a tribute to Micaela Bastidas, who was an important and intricate part of Peru’s independence and who gave her own life for her country, we will have the participation of the Peruvian Chefs Association”, said Melvi Dávila, president and founder of  PTWE since 2012 and who has carried out the main Peruvian gastronomic activity in the United States, promoting the culture of Perú and its masterful Andean and Creole cuisine, internationally recognized.

This important demonstration is joined by the renowned Chef Flavio Solorzano, Peru Brand Ambassador, who every year leads the culinary activities of PTWE in the United States.

«During this decade, we have had the important support of Mincetur, Promperú, Sierra Exportadora, as well as the institutional support of the Mayor of New York City, Bill De Blasio,» Dávila said.

“Likewise, we received the support of the Consulate General of Peru in New Jersey and New York, in alliance with different entities, such as Goya Foods, Peruvian Import, Ameridream Home Loans, San Ignacio de Loyola University (USIL) and on this occasion “Latino Wall Street ” has joined as a sponsor.

Micaela Bastidas Puyucahua, Túpac Amaru’s wife, symbolizes the soul of the revolution of 1780 and, in a superlative degree, the participation of women in the liberation of America. She died tortured, along with her husband, for refusing to reveal information about the rebel army.

«We believe that our community will join in this recognition of a woman who contributed to forge the independence of our beloved Perú,» Dávila finally said.

The Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park is a prominent 77-foot-high (23-meter) waterfall that has provided the energy necessary for the industrial development of this New Jersey city that is home to the largest Peruvian community abroad.
